I think this is my favorite tv version. Ethel looks so happy and relaxed and sounds fantastic. This is from a 1956 television show. I Got Rhythm George and Ira Gershwin 1930
It wasn't the tiny Princess Theater ... it was the beloved Alvin Theater, on 52nd Street, today known as the Neil Simon. ... And I believe in addition to Dorsey, Goodman and Miller, Gene Krupa was on the drums.
The DEFINATIVE version! What I wouldn't give to have been at the Princess Theatre the night Girl Crazy opened with Ginger Rogers and Ethel Merman, George Gershwin conducting and the pit band included Tommy Dorsey, Benny Goodman and Glenn Miller. Oh and Spiderman, it didn't cost $75 million dollars either.
The only thing I'm not digging is the bodice on that dress. Otherwise it's perfection!
