All the community organizations are trying to bring all the communities closer and working closely with different community can serve the purpose of social development, cultural harmony and respect for each other.
Largely, the concept of community development is the process of helping a community to come together and develop understanding about other cultures and life styles. The people, who live together, share ideals, relationships and believe in common value system, define a community.
The concept of community development is important and necessary for the multicultural society like Canada. The Islamic Centre of Cambridge is working directly with different religious groups, new immigrants and community organizations to build a healthy, strong and cohesive community and specifically ICC is helping Muslims to blend in to the Canadian society.
Before talking with the Chairman of Islamic Centre and the Principal of Islamic School, I didn't had any idea about the existence and involvement of Islamic Centre in community development.
It was an amazing experience to know about the activities of Islamic Centre of Cambridge. Before this interview, my idea about the functioning and system of the Islamic Centre was vague. However, this impression changed after the interaction with Islamic Centre of Cambridge.
A large number of Muslim communities are concentrated in Waterloo region. The Islamic Centre of Cambridge is one of the nonprofit organizations, which is playing a very important role in community development and catering the needs of area Muslims. The Islamic Centre is not only a hub of religious and cultural activities for Muslims but it is also working closely with all other community organizations to bridge the gap between different cultural entities.
The Islamic Centre of Cambridge is also running a school, which is helping youth to develop religious and cultural understanding and learn the most modern knowledge through Ontario curriculum.
The Islamic Centre of Cambridge is not only providing cultural and religious services to Muslims, but it is also promoting the interfaith dialogue through working relationship with different religious groups in Waterloo region.
The Islamic Centre of Cambridge is actively involved in fundraising efforts, with all nonprofit organizations for deserters around the world. All these activities will help develop a better understanding between all the communities in Cambridge to bring them together and to create a conducive environment for cultural integration.

  • Of course, it's similar with other superstitions, but this only demonstrated why several(monotheistic) religions can never be a basis for pluralism or community. It simply is a contradiction in terms.

Not many religions make it so obvious as Islam though. Not many others can boast a "prophet" who actively encourages rape.(Sahih Muslim 3371) So talking with these guys is a waste of time. It's much better to work actively for deprogramming so community is possible.

  • Hehe, "interfaith dialogue" what utter nonsense. What you should ask yourself after hearing someone using that nonsensical expression is this:

Can you name a religious dogma that you have given up as a result of this "interfaith dialogue" that helped create a "conductive environment for cultural integration"?

To which muslims will not be able to provide an answer without calling Mohammed a liar. "Cultural integration" has no other meaning for muslims than propagating Islam.
