Here is one of the most poignant songs of Queen Lili'uokalani, the last monarch of Hawai'i. Written during her imprisonment by the government that overthrew her rule, she talks about the royal gardens, the beautiful flowers and calls for them to come to her, all the references filled with meaning about beauty, longing and about how a loyal friend would send her news wrapped around deliveries of flowers.
