Now relocated to Austin, the Meat Puppets performs "Backwater" at Emo's in Austin, TX on (1/17/99). This song comes from the 1994 CD release, Too High to Die.
The Meat Puppets shared the bill with Godzilla Motor Co. and Skrew, doing a Sims Benefit charity show. The band (exept sahm) wore matching pink PJs during its performance - really cute! This was a really entertaining night at Emo's, so I hope you can enjoy this energetic display of powerful bliss. Overall, great clean fun for the whole family!!!

  • awesome

  • This is the first Meat Puppets song I learned to play on Guit-fiddle. It's a blast to learn, and it makes guitar chording interesting to learn.

    We rarely played cover tunes, but if we did it would be the Puppet's "Backwater" or Cracker's "Low", both of which would always get a great audience response, and the songs were easy and fun to play.

  • Hello. Do you have more videos from this performance?

    Thanks!

  • Have the complete show, plus three unreleased shows from the 1999 to 2000 era. But I'm sorry that I'm not into trading anymore (burned out) and I don't have a working Sony Camcorder, although I sometimes rent a camcorder from a local shop for a day to a week for ocassional projects.

  • @gctones Lenny is an amazing piece

  • For some resaon everytime Im in a bad mood, this song always cheers me up, like lenny from SRV, idk why it just does.

  • this is one of those songs that you keep turning up the volume, and keep turning it up, and then that solo comes in, you want it louder, louder, louder... then your eardrums start bleeding, but its WORTH IT!

  • Yeah, I think I heard "shoot up" too, which is a really sad thing. At one time, opiate users really made a difference in music(the Who, Led Zeppelin, Hendrix, etc., but now people can get that tripped-out opiate-only trait naturally. Or else I've heard a lot of lying saying just the opposite, which I hope is true. But from my experience playing under the infuluece of opiates, well I gotta say the opiates really were magical, but not worth dabbling with.

  • LSD aside, I'm just sharing some of my video taped bands that have performed in Austin, instead of promoting my own guitar-wanking self (hint-hint). BTW you're a good guitarist. But knocking my audio? If you can get a better live audio recording in a small club, without a soundboard patch then you may brag, otherwise you're the "mindless" one. (~);}

  • I now need LSD just to watch this with the sound muted. Thanks for your contribution benefiting Mindless Music for Mindless People.
