why do they make all this extra green stuff underneath the level ? the remainder of the level should be a pattern of rocks so no one could get through they'd be stuck in a rock .

Basically you want the "climbing up" animation to allow Lara to go through the part where the wall and the water meets.
Tip: Hold down onto the [SNEAK] button to make this easy as soon as Lara tries to stand. Also, you can just go into the water near to edge of the wall and immediately press the [UP] button to do a quick turn back onto ground (@00:16-00:20)
