This clip is taken from the FULL dvd "The Rolling Stones - In the 1960's". Brian Jones was the band's first guitar player and a founding member. Jones innovative use in a verity of instruments gave the band its special sound. He was originally the leader of the band, but the Jagger-Richards combo soon overshadowed him. Over the years Jones developed a serious drugs addiction and his role in the band steadily diminished. He left the Rolling Stones in 1969 to be replaced by Mick Taylor, and died less than a month later when he drowned in his own swimming pool.

  • Brian Jones WAS the founding member. He named the band, he started the band, and that is it.

  • @whatwouldjudydo

    He also created their sound.

Stones started off playing R+B. They then switched to psychedilia. Then back to R+B and their roots after he died

  • The rolling stones used to be an interesting band when Brian Jones was around, ah well...

  • 1:12 he was the leader not sometimes

  • Brian was one of the most beutiful guitars all over the worl there is no words about his music.

And you can imagination his life

  • Brian obviously felt left out and not needed which would of lead to depression, drug and alcohol abuse and becoming reclusive. It would of been very difficult for him to turn up to band sessions feeling the way he did, the rest is history.

  • Keylock, you killed him!

  • @Denitoa by that time he was uninterested in the Stones, the band he formed & started...the classic cliche is that Mick stole his band & Keith stole his woman...that might drive anyone to drink & drugs and, from all I've read, he was pretty unstable to begin with so the intoxicants fueled the mental illness...seems he was a very complex yet highly talented human who played many instruments and contributed a lot to the early Stones..and, ultimately, dysfunctional in terms of being a Rolling Stone

  • This limey needs subtitles

  • @PacquiaoEPO If your read Keith Ricahards' biography you will realise that what you're saying is clearly not right.

  • 1:00..and you... Mr.Keylock...were a LOUSY minder.

  • Jagger and Richards weren't interested in playing blues at all originally.

They were all about psychedilia, and playing experimental stuff. In fact, Jagger used to get very frustrated with the type of music they were playing.

Jones created the sound. It was his dream to popularize blues/r+b music with blue collar audiences in the UK.

    And he did it.
