So doing dishes last night took quite some time (30-45 minutes), but only about 1.685 L of water or so, so that's not bad considering the amount (and the quality) of dishes I did.
Overall, I used 10.514 L of water yesterday, even with the dishes! --AND the best part is that I got to recycle 1.89 L of that into my toilet tank to offset when I flush. Recycling water? Yes. Totally. It's called soft path. I'm going to be talking about it a lot this month.
Again, full blog at http://sierraclub.ca/blog/water
That's awesome! So glad to hear you're doing that! :)
Yes, the back of the tank fills back up automatically, but I just flushed at the end of the video to show how much water it uses for one flush! (and I counted that in my daily total) I'm actually looking into getting a converter kit to turn my toilet into a dual flush one, should be pretty cool.
(P.S. this is my personal account; I don't work at Sierra Club anymore)

Doesn't your toilet automatically fill back up with water when you flush it? I've used a one liter bottle in the tank to use even less water. And my housemates and I keep a bucket in our shower. When it fills up, we use it to flush the toilet. We just pour it directly into the bowl. I knew someone who took the u-bend out of their bathroom sink and used that grey water to flush, but the sink we have won't allow that. I enjoy your videos. Thanks for sharing.
