I saw a guy break a cheek bone with a left jab using regular martial art gloves. It wasn't just a fracture, it was a total break. People do not realize that with the power that it takes break a one inch pine board, you can break an eye socket or cheek bone. So you are correct when you say that bare knuckle face punches are to severe.
That is why I always laugh when I hear commentators talk about hockey fights like a broken cheek bone means tremendous punching power because it is totally false.

Legacy system from kyukushinkai. Bareknuckles open up people's faces really fast, so it affects training if sparring is done on a daily basis.

@MDIS Kyokushin does NOT allow head punches, where the fuck did you learn that...You may be referring to shotokan or another misguided leak of Kyokushin. ^_^.

@ChicagoJoe57 were you talking about cro cop when he beat bob sapp? :P

@budoshopcomau More accurately, not in a post-1980s tournament held by one of the Big Three. There are exceptions among the smaller orgs.

not bad for low grades but sloppy in my opinion anyway.

@Buczkman If you think it's so easy why don't you go fight either one of them, then you can slam them with a combo straight out from your xbox controller!

@MDIS I thought clinching wasnt in kyokushin because of the rules but how do you know he used the clinch

The Late founder of Kyokushin Karate Kai Kan , Grandmaster Mas Oyama did use clinches , grabbing of uniforms and sleeves , leg sweeps , throws and tripping on his earlier students. But later generations opted for body blows.
Master Ashihara Sensei and Enshin Ryu Founder ( Both Oyama's Students ) are the only ones employing these tactics. Kyokushin now allows head punches which i find dangerous.
I ve a question. why they dont punch into the face but kicks seemed to be allowed.thx
