Phil Ging & Kurt Smith complete their 17th long distance hike together on the Alpine Pass Route across Switzerland. The trail is 202 miles long and crosses the entire length of Switzerland, from the eastern to the western border, through the high alps.
All the major alpine passes are crossed, and there is over 120,000 feet of altitude elevation and loss during the journey.
Thanks for that. We stayed in a mixture of huts, B & B's and small hotels. The first seven days we got solid rain, but then it backed off for the second week. Great hike, but the altitude gain & loss was very tough. Still enjoyed it though.

Thanks for the nice comments. We were lucky with the Ibex. They were down in a hollow and when we came into view they got spooked and ran right by us.

Kurt and I did the whole thing in 15 days and it was unremittingly hard, mainly because of the massive altitude gain and loss, We climbed and descended for over 120,000 feet, the equivalent of climbing up and down Everest twice!
