interesting Murry, haven't had any problem with this knot, true you do need to add a little weight when finished to snug it up otherwise it can come undone but hey that is not a problem...
have landed kingfish up to 80lb no problem what so ever....
forget this "knot" for anything over 10lb test - reverse pressure (i.e., pushing the standing line back toward the hook) can easily unwrap the snell, especially when you get up to 30-50lb test. This is an "easy" way to snell, and while the propery way is harder to learn and more time consuming to tie, the proper way is just that...the proper way.

just a light tug, to nip it up and even 60 to 80lb trace works fine...
i have been tying it for over 40year and never had a problem with it coming undone...
