Bird building a nest - attempts to use long stick

This birdhouse was made especially for bluebirds but they have paid it no attention. This little bird (wren?) found it and decided to build a nest. He starts out on the chair in the background and flies up with a long stick centered in his beak. It won't go in the hole so he slides it down so he's holding it closer to the end. It goes in but is too long and falls out. :(
