Hey! Yup, Joe South has been ignored by mainstream music outlets. All one has to do is listen to his total body of works, and there can be no doubt of his musical genius. His desire to stay out of the limelight is his choice, not really sure why. He lost a brother to suicide back in the day...He has been known to perform with his back to the audience in live concerts....He does read posts on his websight, but rarely, if ever replies. So, his legacy will be there for all to appreciate. Thanks!

You are so correct about Joe South, and I feel the same way. It is disappointing that he is not more recognized by Rolling Stone Magazine and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He is just as good a singer, and as talented as Glen Campbell, for example, from the same '60's era, and he is a great guitarist.

Joe South: The Enigma Man. Never has been recognized for all his brilliant songwriting/performing. But, look at all the covers of other diverse artists; country, rockabilly and heavymetal.  Deep Purple's cover of "Hush"........"Unchain Me," and on and on. Joe is something of a recluse, by choice. His songs speak for him, so he is entitled to that.
