"Gene Pitney" - Mr Moon, Mr Cupid and I - Year Song Released 1968

Mr Moon, Mr Cupid and I.

Mr Moonlight, won't you help me.
I got a job for you to do.
Turn your beam on my one dream.
And make that dream come true-ue-ue
Mr Moon make that dream come true-ue-ue.
Mr Moon make that dream come true.

Mr Cupid, I'm a-pleading.
Hoping you will help me too.
So let your arrow fly through the sky.
Make her heart a big bulls eye-ey-ey.
We'll win her love flying b-y-y-ye.
Mr Moon, Mr Cupid, and I.

In dreams her lips were mine alo-o-o-one.
But now your helping means,
She'll really be my o-o-o-o-o-own.

So, Mr Moon and Mr Cupid.
Be my guiding light tonight.
Mr Moon you can shine on this love of mine
Mr Cupid make her heart a valenti-i-ne
Oh I know we can do it if we tr-y-y
Mr Moon, Mr Cupid, and I ---(Musical Interlude)---

Mr Moon, Mr Cupid, and I.
Mm Mm Mm Mm Mm Mm Mm Mm Mm Mm.
Mr Moon, Mr Cupid, and I.
Mm Mm Mm Mm Mm Mm Mm Mm Mm Mm
Mr Moon, Mr Cupid, and I
FADE;
Mm Mm Mm Mm Mm Mm Mm Mm Mm Mm...

  • This song was released in 1961 as the flip side of "Every Breath I Take". Thanks for posting. Great song

  • I like this song a lot, as I enjoy hearing the early Gene Pitney songs. I can visualize the Everly Brothers or The Allisons (UK Group) singing this.

  • inolvidable pitney

  • @mostliketa Exactly: it's a good thing to make such reminders along the way. Brent441 was surely thinking of an LP he has.

  • I first saw this song lip synched as part of a drag performance. Had no idea this was a male singer!!

  • what a grat song, haven't palyed it but this one time, it's the flip(side B), og the 1961 single "every breath i take", which i bought new back in 1961. it was one of thhose hits that never happened here. it was sise A that went top 40 here in vancouver canada, and when i plaayed the flip side i kinda liked it but didn't play it nearly as often as side A, which was geeting that whitesh appearance that many of my older 45's took on when i played them often enough. thaks for sharing and lol!

  • One of the first things I used to do when buying a new 45 was to flip it over to hear the other side. That's how I discovered this gem almost 50 years ago. Thanks, Brent, for the memories.
