Nope. To achieve poweramp distortion we must hit the power tubes with a large amount of the guitar's signal. This is done by turning up all the volumes till you reach a point when you notice that your amp doesn't get much louder, but the amp feels more dynamic and sustains. This is when you know you're in poweramp distortion land. By turning down the channel volumes you are reducing the output coming out of the preamp and thus not achieving poweramp distortion.

if you have a master volume and a channel volume you can crank the master and turn down channel and it will be cranking the powertubes... right?
-
An attenuator will also takes away the highs and definition of the original sound

I know very little about tube amps so bear with me. I've heard that tube amps can become warm, therefore less heavy, what causes this and does it have anything to do with increasing the master volume?
how do u get those nice clean sounds out of ur amp man.... to me i personally think it sounds beutiful.... also could u tell me if this amp would be good for van halen/metallica style playing

That is the use of an analog chorus pedal. This amp is very good for van halen/metallica style.
