@DrDudeNL instead of oil use silicone spray ... they use it in electric windows and others every days objects ...they sell it at auto parts stores

@HomeSkillet sure, that is what I use for the internals of the switches and cylinders. Still would not use it for the other parts, though, it is still messy (although not as messy as oil, indeed)
