http://www.pbs.org/frontline/obamasdeal FRONTLINE takes viewers behind closed doors to witness the hand-to-hand combat between the White House, lobbyists and Congress over healthcare reform in "Obama's Deal," airing Tuesday, April 13 at 9PM on PBS (check local listings).

Healthcare reform was the first big policy deal taken on by the Obama administration. Many say the young president has bet the mid-term elections, possibly his presidency, on the outcome. In a new investigation FRONTLINE goes behind closed doors at the White House, in Congress and the boardrooms of the giant healthcare lobby to examine the political battles and costly compromises that defined Barack Obama's endeavor. From early positive efforts, through the bitter battles with the Tea Party, the elation of apparent success at Christmas, to the crushing failure in the Massachusetts Senatorial election, FRONTLINE follows the story and reveals the first in-depth look at how the Obama administration operates. In "Obama's Deal," FRONTLINE veteran producer Michael Kirk ("Bush's War," "Dreams of Obama," "Inside the Meltdown," "The Warning") provides a sobering exposé of the realities of American politics, the power of special interest groups, and the role of money in policy making.

  • @roundrock63 Mine too. I think he knows there is much more work to be done and fixing our healthcare system.

  • @markbradleyvideos This was the first Frontline I ever saw and I consider myself a newsjunkie. I am glad I finally saw this after renting it frmo the library. Very well done I agree.

  • at the end of the day Obama had to compromise and make "dirty" deals, or else he would ahve had no legislation to his name...

  • Hitler healthcare??? hmmm i wonder why ppl dont focus on hitlers health care policy...i wonder why? something much have overshadowed it. like WWII DUMBASSES!!!!

  • The right has two points of view Ignorance and Bias...123 go this when The right go nuts and I hear that polls showed that most of America was against health care but they never asked me or my friends they asked the T party sponsored by the Insurance companies bought and paid for u know I could go on n on, but i'm going to get the same response, nothing is 100 % but I think this is a good step forward. No branch of govt. has + powr y should corps.? y the right can't c that is byond me

  • thanks

  • I am thankful to have seen this video. Great one! thank you and keep up the good work!

  • My favorite line is at the end. After all the promises and the historic vote, Obama steps up to the mike and says this isn't going to fix all of our problems.

  • Just finished watching this and felt it was a ham handed attempt to push the so-called health care crisis. Are people ever going to grow weary of all the photo ops? Every still b/w picture in this commercial was setup. What do you do when a policy is pushed and the people don't like it? Make them out to be nuts and misinformed. I felt the entire show was shouting "He's trying to help you, He's smart. Why can't you see that?!?"

  • The priority of the Government is to protect the US from enemies...not to intrude into the lives of individuals. I don't need to be told what's good for me. I don't need to be protected from myself. Government should leave us alone. Truly Free markets scare the left?. Why is the Word Free so offensive? What is the opposite of Free? barred, bound, enslaved, prevented, subservient, suppressed...That's the opposite of Free
