http://www.v8tvshow.com - The 1966 GTO was finally ready to hit the road. We bled the Wilwood brakes, had all the fluids topped off, the ride height set, and it was time to take to the streets. Our goal was to build a car that handled flat in the corners, made lots of power, and was comfortable to drive, and the '66 GTO scored in all departments. Check it out!

  • The engine in this GTO was a take-out from an Escalade that already had miles on it. Being a full roller motor, the break-in is minimal. If this were truly the first fire on a flat-tappet cam, we'd have gone a little easier on it. But there are various theories on break in.. most race engines have NO break-in. As long as you have good oil, pressures, and temps, drive it like you're gonna drive it! It now has around 20k on it and it runs perfect.

  • @V8TV We r building a 1967 Pontiac Lemans at the local High School.

  • thats not a GTO......its just another car with a ls1 stuck in it,shouls have kept it PONTIAC

  • @CREAMFILLEDANISH85 Stop listening to your grandpa about the good ol' days. Shits a little different with current efi hydraulic rollers almost all manufacturers use that still run ohv. Even on brand new "just put it together" engines, if its a roller, at most you'd only need 300 miles or so and thats just to seat the rings in the pistons basically. And thats just for reassurance. Don't really even need to do that. Once you start building motors yourself, and know what you're saying, then talk.

  • I love how everyone that comments on this car, knows it like they built it. Shut up you clowns, unless you helped this guy build it, keep your fucking mouths shut.

  • @sharpasadullknife Buddy, im in your shoes. . Im also 19 years old and have wanted a 67 gto since i was about 9 years old. In my opinion, they are truely the greatest in design and elegance(im an artist). When i turned 18, i spent all the money i could save on a 66... turns out i like the 66 more than the 67 because of minor details... Mine has a 400 motor(ram air) from a 67 and a 400 trans... It was a rust free builder which was scored at around 4k. I love this thing to death, till death.

  • Im curious as to how much a job like that would cost and whether you would be able to provide insight if i was to ever start a project road running GTO?

  • truly an amazingly built machine im only 19 years old but ever since i was 7 years old i have loved the GTO im especially partial to the 65 to 69 years simply because they had the sexiest muscle car look( My opinion) but there truly amazing machines i loved the paint job you guys thru on it it might be simplistic but still looked nice. I am always online looking for a decent priced roller that i can do a frame off to. I watched every single one of the videos and not once did you mention the cost

  • this dumb ass is driving this new engine like its broke in ,,you "do not" drive a new engine like this for a good 4 to 6,000 miles,,some do it at the first oil change but i hold of for two oil changes to be safe,,,,

  • Shit...just leave it like it is...a true driver...
