wow thanks so much. I have been searching this for years.

It has never been officially attributed to Rota, so it's nice to clear the doubt. Cheers.

well. now i'm KNOW ;)
the song name is "Fiesta (Fee-es-ta)" and
it was composed by Walter G. Samuels and Leonard Whitcup in 1931
by additional to Ray Noble it was recorded by Roy Fox (with Al Bowlly again), Jack Payne (BBC), Ben Bernie, Henry Busse, Oscar Joost orch.'s , California Ramblers, etc.
after translation into German "Fiesta" got a new name : "Bianca"

The recording called "Fiesta" I found under Ray Noble, but it is probably sung by Al Bowlly as you suggested. And by the way, you're exactly right, it's identical only with lyrics.

Okay, thanks for clarifying. I'll try and look into that piece. On the Criterion Collection version of 8 1/2, the commentary track said that Rota drew from a piece at the start that was used while filming. Fellini's films used temp tracks and it frequently influenced the composer.

> So this piece is Rota's?
but NOW :)))) i think that this SONG is "FIESTA" by James Campbell, Reginald Connelly and Harry M. Woods composed in 1931 and recorded TWICE by Al Bowlly the same year.
very interesting "turn"?
Thanks for this video and for opportunity to listen to the record that was used in one of my all time favorite movie scenes. I just want to add that the sign on the label also says, "Fiesta" (Rhumba) Orchestra conducted by Otto Dobrin.

если вы раньше не читали сценарий фильма, от всего сердца рекомендую это сделать, хотя бы для того чтобы найти в нем эпизод "Сарагина" и лишний раз убедиться в гениальности Феллини. :)
