Who cares? She only accepted this because she did not want to be restricted to those stupid, stereotyped "sexy Latina" roles. I am a Latina, I am half-Spanish, I am proud of my roots, and if I were her I would do exactly the same. Rita was NEVER ashamed of her Spanish roots. Remember that she brought Spanish dance, music and style to the mainstream, just that! And remember that she had a British mother, so her looks were not a total 'fake', as you said.
