@redfoxdude Yes they do use SIM cards for the 4G LTE. This enables the phone to be used for talking, browsing, and texting at the same time. It also frees up the 3G signals for the talk and text. I may be wrong but this was the simplified explanation that I was given at my local Verizon store in Johnson City, TN. BTW I have the Thunderbolt and LOVE it!!!
