Physicist Richard Feynman thinks aloud about atoms and how they jiggle, and how we perceive that jiggling as 'hot' and 'cold'. From the BBC TV series 'Fun to Imagine'(1983). You can now watch higher quality versions of some of these episodes at www.bbc.co.uk/archive/feynman/

I searched "hot physicist" out of curiosity and this video came up. This pleases me.

Richard Feyman discussed atoms jiggling
With gestures quite frantic and squiggling
He said science should be fun
Teacher's questions? No, not even one
And he said it while happily giggling.

Truly a master of physics, yet still has the excitement of a child. One of the many reasons why I love Feynman.

Feynman was a brilliant scientist and teacher. His analysis of nanotechnology is viewed as the great inspiration for that science.. Happy Birthday Richard.. You're jiggling with Jesus now. R.I.P.

Some people do truly seem to find wonder in everything without necessarily having the brains to understand it, these people are precious (as they often have different outlooks on things) but rare. Mostly I find the only people interested in life and the universe as much as me are other scientists, and a few other academic types especially those of a literary persuasion. Otherwise people GENUINELY are interested in X-Factor and The Only Way Is Essex, and live their lives like people from them.

I doubt those who 'get music not science' would realize they're losing pleasure in life by not understanding science on the level that which those who 'gets science not music' would. I often pity those who don't 'get it' when it comes to understanding of the world around them, but then I often envy them. Their world must be so simple, so magical, so full of mystery and wonder. Is ignorance truly bliss? Then I remember; I only realize that because I am not them, to them, life is a banality.
