  • Was it Beliveau's 500th at 1:45 ?

  • yes yiou are right

  • In 1970-71, Rogatien Vachon wore number 1 (I suppose that he changed after Ken Dryden joined the team). Phil Myre wore number 30 and Dryden, of course, 29.

  • In Habs roster 1970-71 Vachon wear #30. And another thing- Myr's mask, Vachon have mask diffirent style.

  • The Habs goalie is Rogie Vachon. You can hear his name at 0 min. 40.

  • Vachon wear #30

  • this is remarkable...this is the very first game i ever watched in color...remember it like it was yesterday...I was 10 and at a relatives house ...they just bought a new magnavox color tv and i was so excited to watch the game.

  • The addition of Mahovlich was as important as Dryden in winning the Cup that year.

  • This was Beliveau's last season. The guy was still a star.

I don't think the Capitals were involved in that case. In 1983, the Habs traded Robert Picard to the Winnipeg Jets for their 1984 third round pick. That third round pick ended up being Roy (51st pick overall). You said lucky? Yep.

  • @Merti63 Boy...I guess the ' Forum ghosts' were for real...I can't imagine if their gamble failed.

If I'm not mistaken, didn't they pick up a draft pick that ended up being Patrick Roy when they traded Langway to the Caps?

Too bad they ended up traded Roy for a jock strap and a can of pea soup.

Thanks for that info...I had no idea...Maybe it will pay off if a trivia question pops up about that.

    Cheers.

Yeah, what a deal!... In fact, when that deal was signed in 1970, the Canadiens assumed that the Seals would finish in last position in 1971 and then would have the first pick (so they can pick Lafleur). But if the Seals would have end the season in any other position than last, the plan would have failed... But the Seals finished 14th and last. The rest is history!

  • @Merti63 Thanks mate...I didn't know that. Chris Oddleifson?...Wow...lol

  • @MrFloydianSlip

The deal with the California Golden Seals that traded Guy Lafleur (and François Lacombe) to Montreal for Ernie Hicke and the Habs first round pick in 1970, was not bat either. By the way, the Habs first round pick in 1970 was Chris Oddleifson.

  • nice memories, including Beliveau's 500th

  • What a class act Jean Beliveau was Hockey royalty!!
