Atypical Epileptic Seizure

I have epilepsy and it can be hard if you are around people who have never seen a seizure before. People tell me they thought I was dying and call an ambulance. In college I would have them in bed and they would always call an ambulance...so frustrating but I guess understandable. I really just needed to rest afterwards. If I had them around my family and friends they knew what to do. I'm on medicine so they are pretty much gone now.

It might sound very odd to others who do not have fits, but as you can see these can go on for some time!
If I have a fit while sitting in a lounge chair I often will not know I have had it. It is nasty loosing bladder control on the bad fits as well. That is telling me I had a fit, otherwise I just go to sleep, and or wake up doing what I was before the fit started, but feeling really confused. You see her asking if she has had a fit as she is still fitting.
Take care,

My fits are similar to this woman, but quite a bit more violent. I have lost count with how many times I have woken up on the floor after going to bed!
I had Nocturnal fits until 20 years ago. Then for no reason I started to have daytime fits while awake. These are scary and again have lost count with the memories of me standing up talking to someone, and then waking up in Hospital a couple of weeks later. Loosing those day makes me disorientated and is embarrassing.

I was born with Epilepsy, and had my first seizure in my fathers arms as an infant. He said it was terrifying for him... My mother fed me phenobarbital in apple juice and it ended them. I know I had one more seizure in grade school, but which year... I have no recollection of.

Hi crysiechick,
I wish you well OK?
I too am an epileptic, I tend to have mostly fewer fits but they are very violent, almost always leaving me in a coma.
For me the fits do not hurt, other than afterwards when it feels like my tongue won't fit in my mouth because I have chewed halfway through it!
When fitting from a standing position I always just topple over with my feet as the hinge, I have lost count of the number of spectacles I have broken, ending with glass in my eyebrows.

wow your breasts are huge! seriously thanks for showing this least i know i am not alone, i starting having seizures in 2002 grand mal i have had about 12 different medications i am now on phenobarbitol and having abscence seizures about 6 times a month ive had EEG and PET scans they cant find anything. its good of you to share this thank you oh i am 41
@Niceboy3377 & @layzy22 I can't really tell if it hurts during the seizure because I am unconscious. Afterwards though I feel the effects as I usually bite my tongue and my muscles hurt from tensing up so much. If I fell then, of course, I would feel pain from that. It's all afterwards though. The type I do have a problem with though are the ones where I am conscious during it. It's not that it hurts, it's just the fact I can't control my body that's scary.

4 questions:
why are the seizure so long?
how did you get epilepsy?
why do you make so strange noises?
are you unconchious all the time here?
monjanse 2 years ago
@monjanse 1. I don't know why the seizures are that long 2. I was born with epilepsy. It runs in my family. 3. The strange noise comes from saliva in my mouth that I am girgling. 4. I am unsconscious the full length of the convulsions.

@crysiechick Awwwww i feel so bad when i see this! my partner paul has epilepsy and suffers seizures like the one your having here, i call an ambulance within 2 mins of him having a seizure, how come this didnt happen? i hope your ok x

@LauraJayne4eva In my case, I don't need an ambulance. These are my normal seizures and I've had them for a long time so the people around me know what to do. If I were to not have come out of the seizure, fall and hurt myself, or something else that puts me in danger then an ambulance would be called. I am usually confused and tired but otherwise okay afterwards.
