From Martha by Von Flotow. Fritz Wunderlich (Lionel) joins in. The musical highlights (11 items) were recorded in 1960 at the Grunewald Church, Berlin. The chorus of the Deutschen Oper Berlin and the Berlin Symphonic Orchestra were conducted by Berislav Klobucar.

The titles here are in English. But the poetry is beautiful and moving in either language.

  • gorgeous, always loved this. pardon my ignorance but is this from a complete recording of the opera?

  • @ShawDAMAN Just the musical highlights, Sean. More detail in notes. Btw, cease trying to claim my title as the chief ignoramus! :)

  • Glorious! Thank you Bazza!

  • Great version of this lovely Irish song, words by the Irish poet Thomas Moore and borrowed by Flotow for his opera 'Martha', first performed Vienna 1847...Wunderlich has to be one of the great tenors of the 20th century, sadly dying by accident when only 36 years old.

  • ADORABLE ! Thank you very much and Happy weekend , dear Barry ! :)

  • Absolutely agree, dear Barry, the poetry is beautiful and moving in either language. And your wonderful clip as well.

  • never mind I see it is :)

  • Beautiful aria. Anneliese was great Martha both for Wunderlich and Gedda.
