SUNY-ESF Going Green: Brownfields - Chambers Bay on Puget Sound in Washington State was the site of the 2010 U. S. Amateur Golf Championship. It's hard to believe it was once a mining quarry, home to a paper mill and lumber operation, in other words, a brownfield, a place where industrial activity might generate hazardous waste making it difficult to redevelop the land for safe use but brownfields are popular places for golf courses.
