HP Pavilion dm4x review and slight performance test

This is a slight review and performance test of the HP Pavilion dm4x.

Please note, this is NOT the dm4, it is the dm4x. The dm4x is a brand new model that has been only available since early May 2011.

Also, excuse my slight stuttering, mess of a room, and almost dropping the laptop. Also, the occasional clicking sound is the hard drive from an old server I have running.

I am seriously thinking of buying one, and I do have a few questions:

1. What is the overall reliability like with these laptops? Have you ever had to send this one in to HP under warranty for parts replacement at all?

2. Is the touchpad easy to use or does it send the cursor sliding every which way?

1) mine has been 100% reliable. I know HP has had issues with people in the past, but my household has 3 HP laptops that are all going strong.

2)i think the touchpad is wonderful.

@212NATH i could, but i dont see much of a point. with the GPU off, it runs pretty "meh", but with the GPU on, it runs great (and gets really hot).

@MuchachoPinoy If you want to do any gaming at all, do not get a mba (or any apple product for that matter). Starcraft 2 has an OSX version, but i greatly suggest against it in case you want to play other games. if you get the extended battery on the dm4x, you'll last easily 6 hours (lower when gaming with gpu on of course).

if you want any kind of power really, dont get the mba.

@dpwhitty11 In a few more months I'll be going to college and I'm deciding between this laptop and the macbook air. What do you think I should get? I'm probably going to do a bit of gaming in the laptop like playing starcraft 2 and if I would prefer if it had longer battery life
