Here is another John Hicks piano solo, beginning with the last chorus or so of David Murray's solo on tenor. This is also from the 1986 Vanguard performance. Another David Murray original tune, maybe a viewer can help me out with the name.
An example of the late great John Hicks swinging, intense, propulsive, bluesy style.
not the dave murray I came for, but loved the vid and gave it a like=P

If anyone has or knows where I can find some footage of Steve McCall / Air I would love to know about it! I have been looking and sadly haven't found much at all. Not even at my aunt's home (his sister and former residence). If anyone has any info please post it! Thanks!! K. McCall

Ed Blackwell and Steve McCall are two of my favorite drummers. It is sad to realize that three of these guys are gone. Thanks for the videos.

Truly amazing playing. I wonder how much is thought out and how much is on the spot. Whatever it it, it's great to listen to.

The tune is Murray's Steps. The drummer is Ed Blackwell, not (unfortunately) Steve McCall. Doesn't anyone out there have any Steve McCall videos?
