The video was shot from the train going out of London (the full version of the video starts from London Bridge Station). Also please note that there is no sound (my camera does not have a microphone). Therefore I've added some music (not my own) to give some atmosphere to the video.

From the train you can observe what appears to be the remains of now long forgotten platforms, and indeed they are platforms, of the now disused Spa Road Station, and was opened in 1836 and closed in 1915.

The footage has been slowed down to allow you to see the remains of the platforms as it was too fast to see originally.

The information I have on the opening of the video was found upon a website entitled "Subterranea Britannica: Closed Railway Station"

Here is the web address for the site.

http://www.subbrit.org.uk/sb-sites/st...

If you are interested in finding out more about disused railway stations, that this is a great website to visit, I highly recommend it.

The site itself has information so far at least 1552 disused stations in Britain listed, and is continually growing. It's definitely worth while visiting.

VIDEO UPDATE: I have had to change the music, so that all viewers are able to see it, it seems that it is unable to be shown in Britain, therefore I have changed it so that all may be able to enjoy this video. I have chosen some equally atmospheric music.

  • I have had to change the audio track, the original choice of music meant that those living in Britain were unable to see the video, hopefully this has now been rectified, and all can enjoy a little peice of railway history.

  • fantastic choice of music, enigma i believe...

  • Indeed, it's the piece entitled "The Landing", I chose it because not only does it fit the time frame of the video, but it gives the video a haunting feeling, after all, the station lies forgotten, and often overlooked by passengers who travel past it every day and never even give it a second glance.

  • Ah, of course not sure if its from le posterior album or the screen behind the mirror..

Still wise choice, have to admit it does give the video a haunted feel. makes me sick to see so much of our railway heritage just rotting away...

  • AAAA.102224Z AUG 2008 Thank you for posting nice video.......AR.

  • I live near this station, great that someone's bothered to make a vid of the site.

  • Nice one, always wondered too.

  • I'de allways wondered what that was!

  • Considering its age, there's a fair amount of infrastructure left.
