Yeah, a track record as a one term Representative of Illinois after being a lawyer who lost many elections. And as one who became very unpopular (often dubbed a tyrant. Hmmm, I wonder who else is accused of that today) in the midst of his first term but won by a lucky victory in his second term. And finally, Lincoln won the war and became a martyr for United States sovereignty that increased the size of government decades to come.

Lincoln was not perfect and neither is President Obama but each have great ability, charisma, and talent, the real question is how will President Obama use his in the coming years. And can ANYONE no matter how skilled steer this country out of the mess the last decade has left us in.
