A video dedicated to that crazy, wild, hot dance of the 20s- The infamous Charleston. The charleston was a huge craze in the roaring 20's, with people dancing till they dropped- literally. The dance became popular after the film 'Runnin' wild' featuring James P Johnson's 'The Charleston' played as a ragtime piece on piano. From then on, the dance was danced many times- pairs, solos and groups. This video shows a variation of charlestons, with clips from various sources and archive footage.
-Famous Dancers are tagged-
-Al Minns & Leon James- A famous piece of footage
-Betty Bolten & Barrie Oliver- a pairs charleston
-Skeets Gallagher & Helen Kane (Original Betty Boop)- part of 'I have to have you' in the film 'Pointed Heels' 1929.
-The Russell Market Girls
-Al 'Rubber-Legs' Norman- incredibly bendy legs!

Songs:
- New Orleans Jazz Band- The Charleston
-Missisippi John & his Steamers- Missisippi John
- James P Johnson's orginal piece- The Charleston
-Hot Honey Rag from the film 'Chicago'
