  • mrpower328, I like your line up with one suggestion. Just me, I like Kool G Rap over Kane. To me, Kane realistically had 1 monster lyrical album. His first, "Long Live the Kane". After that, when he got on that Dark Gable BS and then later got competition from ppl like Kwame & then Father MC, he lost his MC lyrical stature. He became commercialized and crossed over. He actually had that pimp presence on his first album, it just didn't come across that way in his lyrical content.

  • I agree that when he crossed over with that r&b crossover style he lost me with that. But I was talking about that short period when he had that street lyrical fire on with his taped freestyles and his first 2 albums. I wish he stuck with that style.

  • I don't get one thing. Didn't BDK always give shout-outs to BDP/KRS? Just see Wrath of Kane and Another Victory where he mentions KRS and BDP respectively. But that was 89, so things probably changed by that one year gap.

  • That's correct. This song here came out in 87 when the BDP and Juice Crew battle was in effect. After the battle died down in 88 and 89 Big Daddy Kane kinda stepped away from Mr Magic and the Juice Crew. I have an interview on tape with Kane and he this about the JC. That he wasn't down with that Sub Phony Family anymore but he respect them. He was cool with KRS1.

  • @mrpower328

The label forced that bullshit crossover...(lost creative control by the third album)

  • Why would you put jay-z in there when he bit all there styles

  • @mrpower328 U are right....The order is Moe Dee/Rakim/Nas........Caz/Kane/Jay-z...........Melle Melle/KRS/Biggie

  • Ra and Kane was neva beefing it was people reading into their lyrics. Ra speaks on it on youytube the best: Ra,G Rap n Kris (in any order u choose for the top 3)4. Kane 5. Slick 6.Caz 7. Moe D 8. Melle

  • 1)kool g rap 2) KRS 3) Rakim 4) Kane 5)Grandmaster Melle mel & Grandmaster Caz (Tie)

  • 1 of the best daddy kane has done, tune goes off the chart beat and lyrics r too much

  • kane is still the only guy who was stupid enough to diss the G.O.D. Rakim..epic fail for him,LOL...

  • I don't think that was too BDP. I mean I don't know for sure. I know he ghost wrote roxane shante's joint wher she said " sounding like a wack radio station" but away from that I heard Kane stayed neutral. That would have been the ultimate battle in the history of rap "KANE vs. KRS1" forgetaboutit
