@gibbs13 What about "Speedy" West? And how's that for a name? I watched Speedy, live, a couple of hundred times, on TV in Los Angeles. This was on the Spade Cooley Show. Spade, who played fiddle, was second, only, to the great Bob Wills, who's still the King. Parenthetically, I've seen John Wills Jr., about whom this song was written by Fred Rose, sing this song IN PERSON about 5 times. In the middle of each show that I watched, I'd yell out, "Roly Poly," and he'd sing it.

I agree that Buddy Emmons is the best steel player ever, but the man playing the Fender is Eddie Rivers, he's the steel player for Asleep At The Wheel.

Yes, it isn't the highest quality, since I shot it with a hand held digital still camera in the midst of a crowd at the Riverside Theater in Milwaukee. I knew it wouldn't be pro quality, but I couldn't pass up the chance to capture Ray, Merle, Willie and Ray Benson on stage together!
