IMPORTANT : In the video I use a keyboard shortcut to flatten the image which is: ctrl+F5. This is not a default shortcut, it's a custom shortcut I've made myself.
The way to do it without a shortcut is to go to: "Layer" and then: "Flatten image"
Sorry for the confusion.

Here you can download free list of photoshop keyboard shortcuts, for both Mac and Windows:

  • You never show what the stuff looks like with and without what you have done. I am skeptical on that gaussian blur stuff.

  • very skill job ! Thanks : D

  • @TheHanekam All I'm saying is I'd like to see what each layer is doing.

  • Very informative would have liked it to longer so we could slow down and take more information in.

  • thank you very much. big help ...

  • @DJRoksor you mean bokeh effect but why would you like to increase the contrast and the sharpness on the out of focus background??? doesn't need any sharp or contrast mod, also HDR has a plenty of solutions isn't only one if you know how to do it of curse, well practice makes the difference.

  • @Jigsaw2383 This isn't the same as HDR.. there are some similarities.. like they both increase the contrast and sharpness.. but HDR works better for scenery because you increase the visibility of things that are further away and out of focus while with this effect you make the background darker to make the person more the subject of the photo.
