Which is the same time that you SOUTHERNERS began producing bands of both white and black that played blues, jazz, R&B. It took us Americans, southerners especially, alot longer than the British to appreciate black musical styles. Where the Brits were producing bands that were influenced by American blues, jazz, and r&b in the mid to late 1960's it took the white U.S. population about 10yrs to begin to do that same. Of course black americans are the musical pioneers of America. There is no popular American music that doesnt borrow from african american music in at least some small way, even bluegrass.
