(epics, myths and other stories)

The young perish-the old linger, is this the way of our age?
Ring wraiths gallop risk it or lose it, looks like the same trap from here.
No fear of death just a fear of cages-not caring if their on the page.
In the wax hours the only time for a reed pipe, or an honest gaze in the mirror
A dream, a sleep, a fantasy or just another day.

Whether by sword or by time, we all come to death
Everyone is safe as long as nobody moves-Voices like fluid ebb and flow and run forth
In darkness or doubt, under fading trees, to confess
The only constant we all have is hope.

As a reckless man, looking terrible, defending against the army that is to destroy men
Hope the kings can defend their keeps, as the final battle draws near a end.
The time of the gathering, many have come, the farewells have been said.
The hugs have been given, the weapons have been chosen, we all march toward whatever end. The horse, the bugle, the rain and the meadow, behind the hills of the day.

So it begins
Brace them, hold them, stand fast, fire
The spiritual sit and pray
What can you do, this is too big for you, you just want to go back and go home
Theyre through the gates - cant hold much longer, even to doom the last march of the race of men.

The great stories that really matter have darkness and sorrow in them,
To age the hope- makes it sweeter
From the future they appear like just a passing
Only the hope that remains - floats in the wind its caught up in the tower....

  • Hey BRad. Incredible!!!

I have read Lord of the rings the full series, at least 8 times since I was young.

And also, I just finished John Irving's Hotel New Hampshire, for the second time, and there is a section called Hope Floats in it.
