INTO EACH LIFE SOME RAIN MUST FALL ~ The Hilltoppers ~1956 ~ Dot Records (Hollywood, California) . This is the flip side of KA-DING-DONG (Dot Records #45-15489) This is the great Jimmy Sacca singing the lead vocals on the also great, 1940's classic, INTO EACH LIFE SOME RAIN MUST FALL. This vocal group was originally formed by lead vocalist, Jimmy Sacca, while attending Western Kentucky State College in Bowling Green, Kentucky in approx. 1951. Other group members included Billy Vaughn (Baritone), Don McGuire(Bass), Seymour Spiegleman(Tenor) & then Chuck Schrouder (baritone~Vaughn's replacement in 1955). Billy Vaughn would not only compose some of the groups best material, such as TRYING, TO BE ALONE, & I'D RATHER DIE YOUNG, but would also go on to become an outstanding arranger & conductor. The group's first recording was Billy Vaughn's TRYING , which was a national hit in 1952. They also cut an outstanding version of TILL THEN in 1954, which rates among the best recordings ever made of the song. As popular as The Hilltoppers were in the 1950's, today, they have sadly become unknown to the American youth. In my opinion, Jimmy Sacca was one of the best vocalists of the 1950's and he and The Hilltoppers deserve to be heard and remembered for many more years to come. As a amateur vocalist myself, I should mention that, I was heavily influenced by Jimmy Sacca's vocals.
