@SaintsCheat He is playing the Tambura. It is played as an accompaniment to the lead vocalist or instrument. Check Tambura on wiki....

Sorta like a Slide guitar thats really out of tune? Interesting sound however, but why is the dude in the back fingerpainting a logo or something?
