  • i think not only every body who studies taekwondo should respect him everybody who studies martial arts should respect him for his work.

  • Bless him! He's one of the greatest men ever! Everyone who studies Taekwon-Do should be grateful and should always show respect to General Choi. It's such a shame I started Taekwon-Do in 2003 though. Rest In Piece General Choi Hong Hi.

Like Grandmaster Rhee said a few days ago, he is up in heaven watching us. (During the black belt area seminar and grading.)

  • @Xx58Alevi58xX not only him, all the martial arts developers and founders!!

  • how old was he, when he trained under Gichin Funakoshi?

  • @FastPancakes Just because your style of Taekwondoe does sine wave, dont go bashing the styles of Taekwondo that don't.

  • One of the many reasons why World Taekwondo Federation lacks fruit, Sine Wave is very important. Taekwondo without Sine-wave is not complete, that is why International Taekwondo Federation does things a lot more accurate in the name of Taekwondo. It is not just same martial art different association, because if you take out certain components like this one out of a Taekwondo, it is no longer complete.

  • @ADdadirector past 80s, he died 3 years later. Still teaches even to his last days. Admirable.

  • @khakigorilla simply said yes. You start the move at a low position , you raise (naturally as your legs stretch during stepping forward), and you lower into the next stance, reaching the lowest point again at the moment your punch is fully executed (or whatever technique you employ, block, punch, stab etc etc)All these elements will have to flow naturally, not stiff and robotic, but a seamless wave (dont' forget the breathing!!) . This will result in the most power etc.

  • He was in his late 60's or 70's i believe and man....this guy was still pretty powerful

  • Yeap. The wave is the most powerful thing in nature. Uses the momentum of your body.

  • yes as the idea is that your feet hand and breath all finish at the same time.
