In the second song-'mil ke bichhad gai akhiya', one of the all time best female filmi singer--Amirbai Karnataki is at her best with her exemplary unique open-throated most melodious voice of weight.
excellent music direction of Naushad and equally well sung by Joharabai Ambalewali and Amirbai Karnataki. Credit goes to the music director that with outstanding tune and accompanying music even a non-singer like Karan Deewan has been able to sing the first song without of loss of melody.
It really is a shame that such singers as Zohrabai, Amirbai, Karan Deewan, Surendra, Rajkumari, among many others, were not afforded many chances to sing for films following partition (for the film/music industry, a migration of great talent across the border, and the rise of Lata, Rafi, etc.). Naushad was great at using less common (and fresh) vocalists in his masterpieces.
