I was faffing about on the lovely youtube one day and stumbled across this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GghBIV... . I was so inspired by it that I gathered mah troops and did one of these videos ourselves. ^_^ Credit goes to the original video for the amazing idea~

Recently, the public has been developing mixed feelings towards cosplayers. Some view us as creative and ballsy for running around in public wearing costumes year-round, while others (unfortunately) think we're an annoying, obnoxious group of children (especially with the younger generation of cosplayers) and immature adults. I wanted to remind the public that cosplayers are normal, for the most part. ^__^ We live normal lives- we have jobs, families, relationships, hopes and dreams, and go to school like everyone else. And despite the public's views on us, I'm proud to be a cosplayer. Even though the public may think we're weird, and even though our parents might not think cosplaying is the best hobby to have, I will always argue that cosplaying is one of the best things I could have picked up in my life. Cosplaying has introduced me to an amazing, trustworthy, understanding, and honest group of people. I met all of my best friends and my girlfriend through cosplaying, and not a day goes by where I don't thank my lucky stars to have them in my life.

For me, cosplay is a form of expression. It's a way to expand your horizons theatrically, technically, and socially. Cosplayers (for the most part) are a fantastic, understanding, creative, original, kind, loving, and open group of people who aren't afraid to show others who they are. We're brave. I mean come on, it takes -guts- to run around in public looking like we do. I love learning how to push past my mental boundaries and create something that I never thought I could and display it with pride. I -love- that feeling you get at a convention where you feel like you could talk to anyone. It's like everyone understands each other- everyone can.... connect, in a sense, since we're "all on the same team". Conventions are a great way to make new friends and connect with other people who share the same interests as you. -Thousands- of people gathering together to be complete and utter nerds/geeks/otaku for a few days, with absolutely no shame in what they do? You have to admit, that's pretty amazing. Cosplaying may rape your wallet, time, and daily dose of sunlight (let's be honest here XD), but it's worth it. Absolutely worth it.

Cosplay is the best thing that could have happened to me, and I'm not ashamed to say it.
