While working through The Animator's Survival Kit by Richard Williams, I built a stick figure in Anime Studio similar to the one in the book. This video demonstrates how you can create interesting walks by just changing the passing pose between two contact poses. (See to p. 111-113).

Here's the Anime Studio file:

In the file, there is simple walk cycle on frames 6 to 30, ie., 24-frame walk cycle. You need only change the passing frames, 12 and 24, to create a basic, but unique walk.

  • Yeah, that last walk was intentionally silly. Thanks for catching that rather oblique reference.

  • Good stuff,luv it.

  • Very good, I like the John Cleese one at the end :) I'm experimenting with different walk cycles using Richard Williams book at the moment.
