The 128k hack by a Czech programming team contains a soundtracker version of Jean Michel Jarre's "Magnetic Fields, part 2", present all the moment in the options menu and in-game. This cover version is almost quite sure was based from the arrangement made by Jarre at his China concerts.

Unless it's uncredited on the game, I must say should have been...

Well, as I'm not the author of this game and hacked version, I estimate convenient to credit Jarre for legal reasons.

Original music: (C) 1981, Francis Dreyfus, Paris / Jean Michel Jarre.

The music used in this hack computer game was arranged for an unknown sound and sfx programmer from Software Ostrava and is unknown if he/she asked for permission as the game was released somehow in the past. Wonder if this hacked version was sold before, so the authors of this "custom" game would have committed an offence.

This hacked game can be found here: http://www.worldofspectrum.org/infoseekid.cgi?id=0003583

Download "Pac-Man128(modified).tap.zip" and use it with any ZX Spectrum emulator like ZX SPIN, Spectaculator, RealSpectrum or whatever else you may find also at World Of Spectrum page.

  • I wonder how can soundtracker be played at the same time there are another type of sounds like in-game effects. Is that about 128k page memory?

  • Jarre will see you in court! That line of text won't help, you have to - pay money - to get legal rights in this world.

  • @edzzzwin Why don't you download this file from World Of Spectrum (link already added), get an emulator, and find it out by yourself? Please inform yourself before offending me.

  • I had this tune on a music jukebox that came with one the magazines, sinclair user i think, never knew it was pacman though as it was untitled. This (and the robocop title music) are probably the best tunes I ever heard on the spectrum and as a kid I used to play them both all the time. I recorded them to cassette and used to take them into school lol That casette had some banging chip tune music on it, wish I could find it. ;-)

No he won't. This track is a "remix" wich is absolutely legal on everywhere on the planet.

And i think Jarre Maestro does not care about people who uses his songs anyway.

Actually Hannibal Lecter will see you in his plate for trying to spread FUD and threatening someone, who did not do anything.

  • I think the ZX Spectrum 128K had a dedicated sound chip like Commode 64.

  • на 3-х канальном звуке подобное - нобелевская премия!

  • its гениально!

  • nice, 8 bit Manetic Fields, solo at 4:00 is so fuckin cool, obviously it is Jarre`s, i mean the song
