How long have human beings been running? Very long, probably longer than there have been human beings - Cro-magnon man was running. Was he wearing shoes? NO. Who's in better shape - cro-magnon man or fat American of today?

When were running shoes invented? The 1970s. Before running shoes in the 70s, we wore shoes with minimal support, just a rubber and a thin layer of leather, like what RunTellmanRun crew member Ben is wearing. Why are runners getting injured more and more frequently as running shoes get more and more developed? Because they attempt to overcompensate with overly engineered shoes for what our feet and legs were born to do. This leaves muscles from our feet to our back improperly developed. Because we're sissy Americans who run in overpriced running sneakers.

So do you want to listen to your doctor? Or eliminate running injuries by running barefoot? Up to you.

And by the way, you might want to rethink what your doctor tells you if they're not at least an avid marathoner.

This is Tellman, telling you to start running.. dot com. http://www.StartRunning.com

  • those are cool orange sunglasses, i run with vans slip ons so i dont know the difference with running shoes i were those vans for everything only have one pair of shoes

  • thanks, i'm amazed at the hundreds of dollars "they" suggest for a good running shoe. i actually spend less...find a good one on sale, shop like i'm still in college.

  • Very true. Barefoot is exactly what your feet are made to handle. For example, I dare you, those who wear shoes to go outside all the time, to walk bare feet in soft ground, like has rocks, grass, dirt and all that stuff... and see if you don't start crying because your feet can't handle those tiny rocks on the ground! ha ha that just shows how our feet are weak!
