confusion b/w faith as theoretical truth position & faith as a description of belief behaviour. Wilson tries 2 touch on this, not very successfully. If I hit a nail with a hammer I display a belief behaviour, which don't by definition rely on "faith" but on proof thru experience. Religious argument says this proves atheists have faith...which then becomes the classic epistemological reductio, as per Descartes demon. This tactic mires both sides in absurdity, which is a FAIL.

Hitchens is a total fuckin badass.
Presses the elevator button, then takes the stairs.

@equallyeasilyfuqyou What Wilson says is actually simple if you've ever studied Plato you'll see the understanding of a universal code of ethics that is present in an a priori status in every human. Sure, Wilson's language isn't the most clear, but the arguments he presents are not nonsense at all. Hitchens cannot answer the questions of Epistemology and how we can condemn the action of Hitler or Stalin without a standard. How can we comprehend a crooked line if we haven't seen a straight one?

ha, if you close your eyes and just listen, its just a hype fest for yet another rational ownership of sensibility (i.e christianity IS bad for the world) but if you read all the text that isnt a subtitle,.. its obvious a media savy (american) god nut made this.. prove me wrong please..

3:42 - Is this an attempt to reason that reason is unreasonable? What kind of pretzel is this guy's mind tied into? If reason cannot be relied upon as the basis of a discussion then there is no discussion to be had. Mind boggling.
Hitchens FTW.

nothing wilson says makes any sense whatsoever.

@Flabbyhabbybabby Yes, stunningly fair. Thank you.

@TABOOVSKNOWLEDGE You can't touch that.

If Wilson is saying that every position is a faith position than by that statements logic it negates itself. As that very statement holds no merit by it's intrinsic circle he just mentioned. All positions are faith based, but they are not equal. Through testing and life experimentation certain ones are deamed to be good determiners of truth and others not. regardless of how they initially came to be used, it is how they work that matters.
'Every position is a faith position'.
If this is true, then all truth positions are equal. If all truth-positions are equal, then no position is any more 'true' than any other.
Needless to say, this is very rich coming from a man who has elsewhere accused atheists of relativism.

Wilson's standard list world view statements are stunningly stupid. Is that fair to say?
