  • Where is the kebyar????

  • By 1919 the style of Kebyar was well established. The King of Tabanan, who served also as the Dutch regent for his province, sent for a Kebyar orchestra (from North Bali) in that year to play at an important cremation. In the audience was a young and very talented dancer, I Nyoman Mario, who was much impressed by what he heard and who undertook to develop further the dance in a new style. His great contribution was ready in 1925, when he presented Kebyar Duduk for the first time.

Maksudaku, the kebyar part was obviously cut off the clip. I played this peace and I´m pretty sure that there is a kebyar part in the (almost) middle of it.

  • Thank you but I don't have what you mean; maybe you can help me to get it...

But I really have to admit that the dancer is wonderfull! I was looking for some versions of the tari and what is most striking bout yours, is the dance

  • sorry for the delay.

Well what I mean with ´kebyar´ is that part of a gamelan gong kebyar piece or also kreasi baru(gending)that derived from the word byar (to flare up) and gave this whole style the name, by which we kno it: gong KEBYAR. This part is quite often played as a kind of opening to the piece - it doesnt really have a regular gong cycle, but is quite abstract. An you tube sample easy to find is ´tari truna jaya´ - u can hear the kebyar part right in the beginning.

  • Ooops...piece

  • Bali is truly a place where one can attend to such representations. Some scenes are worthy of an opera like this one among others. I would say even more that they have the particularity of dance as well as a dancer choreographic
