Style; glass: IPA; tulip
12 fl oz x 7.2% ABV = 86.4 / 60 = 1.44 beers * 150 C = 216 calories (est.)
Purchased at: Canals Lawrenceville, NJ for $1.12

Aroma: hops, citrus, stinging, and pine needles. Invigorating.

Visuals: beautiful brand safe packaging, summer sunset, brilliant golden orange clarity, thinning white yellowish head, exquisite lace.

Taste: starts sweet and bitter simultaneously, middle is dark with some roasted notes and lots of citrus, which lingers as grapefruit, resin, and tar.

Palate: peppery, stinging, and tart, middles dull to a warming and a throb in the back of the mouth, the finish is dark, warming, and delicious.

Overall: This is a spectacular, delicious, and superlative achievement. At this price, intensity, and quality, I have found my go-to daily bread. Sierra Nevada, youve absolutely done it. You are so hired.

  • Torpedo is our favorite in the local area. Of course, being that we're IN Chico, the market is not exactly saturated with competition. It's difficult to not be bias when Sierra Nevada is a few blocks away!

  • @cityhomebrew you should be quite proud of what SN has accomplished, specifically with torpedo, but also in general with regard to the general ability of great beer.

  • i would say more pine than citrus. great! great! great! sierra nevada has it!

as if celebration ale didn't let us know.

and this is their year round ipa!

way to go sn...you guys rock!

  • Quite a fair assessment. I'm also a big fan of Bigfoot. ;)

  • There porter is my favorite of their offerings, has a rich chocolate flavor

  • I've had it -- porters are not my favorite style, but SN does a good job of it. For essentially macro brews, they are doing a great job of getting the taste and flavors spot on to style.

  • Yeah, my glassware collection is growing unwieldy, but it is nice to enjoy the style as prescribed. ;)

  • Finally got a hold of a six pack of Torpedo and must say that it is a well crafted session IPA. I just wish I had a tulip glass to enjoy it even more.

  • Agreed! SN has a winner here, along with some others, Amazing how available this is.

  • This a good beer. Lots of hops & flavor. Definatly recommend it. 8/10
