With all respect for the fine officers of Chicago police department, which had a number of armed confrontations with Black Panters at the time - this particular operation was planned and largely carried out by the FBI.Give credit where credit is due.

Hamton was killed in a all out assault, a "hit" operation or coldblooded killing if you like. Oh well (shrug). The local police wanted Black Panthers taken out. FBI most surely wanted them taken out. They wanted the most prolific ones neutralized one way or another leaving the origination to self collapse - and a lot of them indeed ended up quite dead or with lengthy prison sentences And good riddance to all of them I might add.
