Breaking analysis of the ongoing "bitter" remark controversy.
EDIT: I misquoted Obama as saying "express their frustrations," while he actually said, "explain their frustrations." Doesn't change the meaning of what he said though.

  • aok, I notice you are getting a lot of flak for expressing your opinion -- and ironically, from people who supposedly espouse basic human rights yet openly call to question your character rather than your logically put argument.

I can see how both sides can view this comment, and neither is more right than the other -- it really depends on whether the people he is talking about is you (i.e. in financial rut, pissed off at bush admin etc).

Good on you for standing up for what you believe in!

  • Thank you! It's nice to hear someone actually thinking YouTube can be a force for good (freedom of speech) rather than a way people can anonymously bully others.

  • You are the minority kid... I'm not fed up with the Bush administration! I think Bush has done more then any democ_rat administration could have possibly hoped for! All they know is the white flag!

I'm glad you are not old enough to vote!

  • You crack me up. Toby Kieth ("Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue") was all for the invasion of Afghanistan. But he has openly said that he never supported invading Iraq. Every U.S. President since FDR has been a liberal...even Reagan was since he increased military spending rather than letting corporations run America. Many of them have spouted conservative values (i.e. isolationism), but Bush is openly anti-isolationist, making him liberal, as are all "neocons" because conservatism is dead.

  • I feel sorry for people in states like Ohio & Penn. I've been lucky enough to live in California where we don't usually get politicians criss-crossing the state for an empty promise. In other states this is not the case. If Hillary CLINTON (don't forget her surname, Clintonistas) tells them that Barack Obama's an angry black dude they'll believe her 'cuz they see politics as a choice between the lesser of two evils. Obama understands this & is trying to change the way these voters view politics.

  • This is the Death knell... the problem is he said they CLING TO GUNS AND RELIGION WHICH IS INSULTING to the very people he needs. That's why you don't know how elections work. The media will bludgeon him all week long with this. He can kiss his ass goodbye as far as winning Pennsylvania now.

  • In the immortal words of Nixon, "[expletive deleted]!" That's how I feel about your comment. The news media is the biggest threat facing our country for the exact reason you mention. Obama was explaining TO elitists the motivations behind votes for guns and religion, and his analysis was accurate, NOT elitist. He is trying to channel that bitterness that we are all feeling into a worthy cause-- his campaign-- rather than religion or guns.

  • gg transcript?

  • "Obama attacked we the people for standing for the 1st and 2nd amendment."

That's hilarious. You stand by nothing. In a moment of fear you let congress and bush Swindle you out of some fundamental rights with the patriot act.

Guess what. You're not getting them back. It's a one way street amigo. Keep repeating the same BS propaganda.

"I can't vote for Obama because in a 10 second clip he said I was bitter!!!!" Sounds like a tween on her cell phone pissed at her friend.

  • I am glad to know you are not old enough to vote...You obviously know nothing about what this country needs in a leader. Do you homework bud...You will be affected.

  • The only thing I'm bitter about is the fact that an arrogant, partisan, opportunistic first term senator who has never accomplished ANYTHING and was raised up by the corrupt Chicago political machine has fooled enough people into believing he somehow represents "change" to even be close to John McCain in the polls. That makes me super bitter.

  • Keep think'n that way!

  • I feel the argument in this video provides more reason not to vote for obama than to vote for him. He took his remark too far by accusing Americans of clinging to guns or religion on the basis of bitterness. Those rights are given to us by ammendments to the constitution. We cannot stand to be accused of using our rights on the basis of reaction. Rights don't require a reason. It's hard to ignore what obama must have meant given his back ground on gun control, religion, and our nations flag.
