I am the redhead in the sunscreen pit! We adore you athletes. My first experience with Ironman and I am astounded with how hard you guys push yourselves. Will be looking forward to serving you again next year! And thanks for this awesome video since we were elbow deep in sunscreen LOL we didn't get many pictures : )
The local community was nothing less than fantastic. The Ironman organization is absolutely first class. I'm glad I did it and finished with a decent time. Having said that, I will likely never do IMSG again for 3 main reasons: 1) The date. Training all winter long is a grind; 2) The weather is too unpredictable. We were damn lucky not to have 60-80 mph winds that occurred on Wednesday; and finally, 3) The marathon. That would've been a beast of a run all by itself. But after the bike course...
Thank you so much for posting this on Youtube. We were able to travel from Salt Lake down to St George to watch our son, (32 yrs old, police officer in Phoenix), compete in his first ironman. It was so awesome and all the volunteers were great. Love St. George! Thx again!
A fierce, intimidating, unrelenting, quad-burning, twisting climb from Gunlock to the Shivwits Indian Rez to the top of the Wall then down the tube from Veyo like a rocket from Hell with windgusts from all four directions threatening to send you skipping like a flat rock thrown across a lake...other than that it was a piece of cake.
@prancefrly I'm sorry about the music, I don't have the rights to use Black Sabbath, and so I was stuck using the music they played at the finish line.
That was an awesome day. It was a really fun, beautiful course. And all the volunteers were amazing -- it really, really helped. It was my first Ironman and I completely bonked hard at about mile 10 of the run. Stopped at an aid station and drank coke and chicken broth until I could go again. I wanted a challenge, and it definitely was! Thanks again to any volunteers who see this -- you rock!
