@mrmemanme That is all well and good. What if there is human error in that conclusion? What about peer review? What about complete(not just superficial) public disclosure of all the people and organizations that fund the research of Newcastle University? I am very cautious because I am aware of the history of the FDA and the impact it has had. I prefer to err on the side of caution. At the very least I insist that this product labeled as GMO, So I can make an informed decision.

@TheHemlock77 Proffesor gilbert, Newcastle university, head of biogenics, no connection with this company says that they would be fine to eat and it is only due to poor media coverage that has lead to this anti gm stance.

@mrmemanme The problem is that a single gene controls more than one function. There is very real concerns of potential unintended consequences of those other function. This is of particular concern when it comes to hormones. The technology simply is not advanced enough to be considered safe for human or animal consumption. Independent studies of gmo crops have shown that there is validation for these concerns.

Why the heck wouldn't it be safe to eat? I mean, if we let it breed with the wild population it could have some potential problems there but come on, is it going to give your mouth a tumor or something? Stupid question.
If it is safe to eat a salmon, and safe (while I have no idea what the taste would be) to eat Ocean Pout, then its safe to eat something that's a little of both.

@mrmemanme Let me quote someone who understands the technology better than your friend. Geneticist David Suzuki said about GM foods. "The experiments simply haven`t been done and we now have become the guinea pigs.""Anyone that says `Oh, we know that this is perfectly safe`, I say is either unbelievably stupid or deliberately lying."

@mrmemanme Sorry I just noticed your reply. The FDA generally doesn`t test GMOs, they just review data given to them by biotech companies. FDA approved Meridia for example, it was sold for several years and wasn`t until 29 people died from it that they took it off the market. There are many more examples just like that.

@myndy86 why would the fda clear this for consumption if they had evidence to suggest otherwise. they dont gain anything by clearing the food. Also as a very god friend of mine who is a Eminent scholar in Bioenergy and who has no connection with Aqau advantage salmon says that they are safe and people only fear them because they dont understand the technology used.
oh good a sequel to the movie "The World According to Monsanto" will be coming soon... maybe we'll call it Jurassic Water Park
